The West's game in the conflict between two Muslim countries
A spark is burning once again in the Western Sahara conflict, which has become a threat to the peace and stability of the African countries and the region. Many European countries have supported Morocco's position on the issue of Western Sahara. Western Sahara is part of southern Morocco and there is a violent movement for independence and sovereignty, supported by the neighboring Muslim Arab country of Algeria. The Polisario Front is running the government in exile in Western Sahara, and this front has been given political, diplomatic, and military support by Algeria. takingInterestingly, Western countries are openly supporting Morocco, while Algeria has started cooperating with Russia, and this situation has become a source of conflict between Russia and the United States and NATO countries in its region. Recently, Western countries have started to support Morocco's position more strongly and many European Union countries are using the pressure of the Union. The United Nations has formed a committee on this dispute. This entire region was under the control of the Spanish Empire. After gaining independence in the mid-1975s, this region (Western Sahara) came under the control of the Moroccan government, but the movement to create an independent country continued here and the armed struggle threatened the peace and order of the region.Morocco has agreed to limited autonomy since 2007, but the Polisario Front wants a fully independent country. The United Nations intervened in 1991 and established a ceasefire. The United Nations had decided that the opinion of the local people would be taken through a referendum in Western Sahara. Then the dispute will be resolved. But the parties had a strong disagreement over the rules of the referendum. Since then, this method of solving the problem has not been given much emphasis. The United Nations has been urging the parties to compromise on this issue. In view of the delay in resolving the standoff and Tamil, the exiled government of Western Sahara has issued a decree to start an armed struggle from 2020. But there have been no violent incidents on the ground, and Morocco has steadily strengthened its claim to sovereignty through diplomacy.
